This tutorial will show how you can test your links in Gmail before sending them out, making sure the person receiving your email gets sent to the correct webpage after clicking on the link you sent them.

There are a couple of ways you can share links when sending an email in Gmail, one way is to simply copy the link from your browsers address bar and paste it directly into your email, Now this should work without any problems, but this is obviously where we run into the issue of sending out a faulty link.

You can add the link in your email using the “Link” function in Gmail.

When “Composing” an email in Gmail you will notice a small “Link” icon, Click here to insert your link.

A new window will open up, this is the part in Gmail were you can test your links to make sure they work correctly.

1. If you want to show text instead of your link URL Enter the text you want to show up in your message rather than the link here.
2. Paste your link into this field.

Click on the “Test this link” link.

If you have entered a properly working link, you should see the correct web page open in a new window.

Now you know you have entered a working link, you can close the new browser window that opened up from your test and click “OK” on your link testing screen.

The “Link“  window will close and you will now be sent back to your email inbox to continue “Composing” your email.

Now you can confidently send your email knowing the link your sending is a fuly functionig link which will send your email recipient to the exact webpage you wanted them to see when the open your email.
