This tutorial will help you get your Wordpress site set up using a software inside of your webhosts Cpanel called Fantastico.

To get started Log into your web hosting accounts Cpanel.

Once logged in scroll down the page until you see the Fantastico icon, this is usually located in the section titled Software / Services. Click on the Icon to Continue.

In the next screen to open, you will notice on the left sidebar a link with the text Wordpress, the link should be located under the Blogs section. Click on Wordpress To Continue.

On the next page you will see some basic information about Wordpress, the current version, Support forum, Wordpress home page etc… and a link with the text New installation.

Click on the New Installation link to continue.

The next step is to fill in your admin details.

If you are hosting more than one website on your hosting account make sure you choose the correct domain name to install Wordpress on.(Top Arrow)

When deciding on the admin user-name, make sure you choose a name that is anything other than Admin.

For security purposes using Admin as your default username is a very bad idea.

When you are finished inserting your details simply click on the Install Wordpress button at the bottom of the screen.

One more step and your all done, after Clicking on the Finish Installation button you will be asked to send a backup copy of the Admin details you just entered to your email address.

I have deleted the top section of the Admin Details Email page in the image below for Obvious reasons.

Once you have completed all of the above steps you should now have your very own Wordpress website ready to start modifying and adding content to.

If you go to your site you will see the default Wordpress theme, Don’t worry installing a new theme can be as simple as a couple of mouse clicks.

When using an instalation method as this one, you don’t get an option to change the defalt table prefixes for your database, The default database tables are known to be a target for hackers and is a potential security issue, So if this concerns you make sure you change the default Wordpress table prefixes in your database.

There are a couple of ways I could of tackled this, one way was to manually add a 301 redirect in a .htaccess file and another way was to do a permanent 301 redirect in my Cpanel, I chose the later.

In this tutorial I want to show you how I easily redirected my old domain name within my web hosts Cpanel.

The first step was to log into my Cpanel.

After logging in, I had to find the icon under the Domains section titled Redirects. Click on it to continue.

Because I will no longer be using this site and I have since deleted it from my server, I want to make my redirect permanent, so in the dropdown menu I chose the Permanent (301) option.

Now I need to choose the domain name I want to redirect, (this domain name must be hosted on your server.)

In the next step I have to add the new URL, I usually open a new window or tab in my browser and go to the website I want my old domain name redirected to, I then copy the entire URL from the browsers address bar and come back to my Cpanel to paste it into the redirect page.

1. Add the new URL including the http://
2. Choose the redirect option, with or without www.(I left this as default as you can see in the image above.)
3. Click on the Add button to finish.

After completing the steps above you can see that I now have the old domain name pointing to my new website.

and Just one last check to make sure everyting is working correctly, I’ll go to a new browser window and type into the address bar the old URL, hit enter on my keyboard, and if everything is working correctly I should see my new website open up in the browser.

After successfully logging into your Cpanel, Look for the section titled “Mail“, in the mail section you should see an icon that says “Email Accounts“, Click on that Icon.

A new window will open up.

You will notice a small Dropdown box with your domain name inside of it.

If you have more than one domain name, you will need to click on the little black upside down triangle and choose the correct domain name you want to add an email address too.

In the yellow text box type in your preferred email name, this is pretty self explanatory but for example I use jeremy@whatever-my-website-is.com,  you could use whatever you want. Basically just type in whatever you want to appear before the “@” symbol.

Make sure you type in a strong password, use upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.

Click on the “Create” button.

Once you have clicked on the “Create” button you will be asked if you wish to configure the account to work with a mail client,

Because I use Google’s Gmail for all of my email accounts and not a local email client, I never worry about this step so I can’t really help you configure your mail client, But I did find a tutorial that should help you to configure your new email address with your Outlook account. The Tutorial.

This post will show you how you can easily add a new domain name in Cpanel.

Before you can add a Domain name in your Cpanel or web hosting account you need to make sure you have changed the name servers for the domain name. Otherwise your web host will not be able to recognize or find the domain name your trying to add, So basically this step will not work if you haven’t already changed your Name Servers.

If your not sure how to change name servers read my article on “How To Change Name Servers“.

The first step is to log into your Cpanel. If your not familiar with logging into Cpanel I have a short tutorial you can read titled “How To Easily Log Into Cpanel”

Once your into your Cpanel, look for the icon that has the “Addon Domains” text under it. It should look something like the icon in the screen shot below.

Click on the “Addon Domains” Icon to proceed.

In the next screen, you’ll see a form where you need to insert the details for your new domain name, ftp user name the rootfolder for your new site

Type in your new domain name, But leave out the “www.” then just left click with your mouse anywhere outside of the text box, the subdomain/ftpUsername, and Document root files text box’s should automatically be filled in for you.

Make sure you create a strong Password with upper and lower case letters with numbers and symbols.

If the details for your sub domain and root folders don’t automatically update, you may have to fill in the details yourself.

Make sure your FTP Username is something you associate with the corresponding website, and folder or directory you create can be easily associated with that particular site, Make sure you put the folder inside your public_html file. It will look something like this… “public_html/yourwebsite.com“.

As you fill in the fields correctly, you will see a green tick show up next to them.

After you have filled in all of the necessary information correctly, simply click on the “Add Domain” button, and that’s all there is to it.

The next screen you will see will simply be asking if you want to manage the files for your domain name or to go back to your Cpanel, You probably won’t need to do anything else at this stage so unless you need to go back into your main Cpanel area you can simply close this screen.

So in the future, any time I write a post where you need to access Cpanel, I will just link back to this post as a reference, but once you’ve done it a couple of times you really should find logging into your Cpanel childs play.

The easist way I find to log into my Cpanel is to type in your Web browsers address bar your websites domain name with “/cpanel” (without Quotes) at the end, for example your URL will look something like this… www.mywebsite.com/cpanel

Then just hit the enter key on your keyboard.

One of two things will happen next,

One, a dropdown box asking you to enter your webhosting admin user-name and password will appear.

Or

Two, a screen will open in your browser with the Cpanel logo asking for your Username and Password.

Your log in details will be the exact same ones you used when you set up your web hosting account, you should have these details in an email that was sent to you after signing up for your web hosting.

You should store these emails in a safe place for you to reference them whenever you need them.

And thats all there is to it, The next screen you will see is your Cpanel.

This is a lot easier than it sounds and I have provided images of every step along the way so you should be fine if you just follow along with this lesson.

Only Follow The Instructions In This Tutorial On A Brand New Installation Of Wordpress.

After completing the steps outlined in the tutorial How To Install Wordpress Using Fantastico.

Your next step is to go back to Cpanel to reset our database tables.

You should still be logged into your cpanel after installing your site, if your still in fantastico just click on the Icon in the top left hand corner, if you need to log into cpanel from your web site follow the steps in the article How To Easily Log Into Cpanel.

Once in Cpanel look for the Legacy File Manager in the Files section, Click on that.

A small pop-up window will appear, make sure you choose the correct domain name and the option to make all files visible before you click Go.

The next screen you will see will display all of the files for your Wordpress site, scroll down until you see the wp-config.php, click on this file link.

In the same screen a sidebar will open up to the right of screen you want to choose the option to Edit File.

After you click on the Edit File link, the sidebar will change to look like the following screen.

You are being asked to choose how you want to edit the file, I just leave the default setting as is, scroll to the bottom of the text and click on the Edit button.

If your not sure what option to choose contact your web hosts support, they should be able to help you.

In the next screen you’ll see the code for the config.php file, you need to find the line of code that says `$table_prefix = ‘wp_’;`

Once you locate that specific line of code you want to change the “wp_” to something different.

I suggest you change it to something with upper and lower case letters and avoid using the letters “wp“. See the image below as an example.

Make sure you keep the underscore at the end of the prefix, If your unfamiliar with underscores it’s simply hold down the shift key and hit the dash on your keyboard.

Once you have changed your prefix click on the Save Changes button on the top right hand of your screen.

You can close the next screen you have finished editing your config file.

The next thing we need to do is add a new user to our website.

Type your domain name into your browsers address bar with /wp-admin at the end of your URL, just as you would if you were to log into your Wordpress dashboard.

You should see a screen asking you to enter your Blog title and email address. Fill in the details and make sure you check the Allow my blog to appear in search engines check box before you hit the Install Wordpress button.

The next screen will give you a new Username and Password, Make sure you copy the password. You will need it for logging into your site on the next screen

Click on the Log In button to the bottom left of your screen.

In the next screen insert your new log in details provided and click on the Log In button.

The first thing we need to do now that we are logged into Wordpress is Add a new user, to do this we need to click on the Add New link under the Users tab on the left of your admin screen.

Next, you will be asked to fill in your new user details, make sure you choose a strong Username with upper and lower case letters and a strong Password with upper and lower case letter, numbers and symbols.

Make sure you choose the Administrator option in the dropdown box and click the Add User button on the bottom left of your screen.

Next, you want to Log Out of your current session and Log In again with your NEW log in details.

After logging back into your site, you want to delete the original user that was set up with the initial install of your site.

To do this we need to go back into our Users and delete the first user that was created. Simply click on the Delete user link.

Complete the deletion by simply leaving the settings as they are and continue by clicking on the Confirm Deletion button below.

Ok were nearly there but we still need to delete the old Wordpress tables, So now that we have our new user with a secure Username and Password, we have to drop the tables that were set up in our default database setup.

Log back into your Cpanel and look under the Databases section for the phpMyAdmin icon, click on it.

In the next screen you will need to choose the database that you are using for your installation, you can check to see if you have the correct database by checking the email that was sent to you after your set up, it will have the database name/number in it.

After opening up the database you will see the list of tables, you will notice the new table prefix’s you created and also a list of the original table prefix wp_

The next step is to click in the box of the Old Wp_ prefix, Do Not check any of the new table prefix’s we created.

It should look something like the following.

Make sure you Only check the wp_ prefix and choose the Drop Option in the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen.

Then click on the Yes button to delete your default wp_ Wordpress tables.

You will then be taken back to your database tables page but you have basically finished this task.

The next step is to configure your settings inside of Wordpress.

Congratulations you have just set up your own website and you have made some important steps in adding some security to your site.

I suggest before you set up your account and hand over any of your hard earned cash Make sure you have tested the live chat service and you are totally happy with the level of support you expect to get.

The first page you should see when you land on the Webhostingpad site should look similar to the following image.

To get things rolling just click on the Order Now button. (Number 1), If you run into any problems go to the live support for help. (Number 2)

After clicking the Order Now button the next page to load up should be this one.

1. If you purchased your domain through Godaddy you will need to choose the Owned option, a drop-down box will appear, just type in your domain name in the drop-down box,
2. Click on the plan you want to purchase.
3. Click Continue.

You will then be taken to a screen where you will be asked to enter your contact information along with your credit card or payment details, you will need to fill in all of the fields in yellow, these are required .

1. If you have a discount coupon insert it in this box, make sure you click on the Check button before proceeding.
2. You must check the box stating that you have read the Terms Of Service Agreement.
3. Click on the Complete Order button.

Once your payment has successfully been processed and you have set up your username and password you should receive a receipt sent to the email address you used when making your payment. It should look similar to the one below.

Click on the link provided at the bottom of your receipt, this will take you to your new hosting account.

You will also get an email with all of your Username, Password and FTP details for your new webhosting account.

Make sure you store these two emails where you can find them, keep these safe for your reference.

1. The login details you need to access the Cpanel.
2. The details you need to enter into your FTP client to access the server.
3. The nameservers of your new webhost.

The following screen should be what you see after clicking on the link from your receipt email. Enter your user name and password in the fields provided and click on the login button to enter your account.

Once you have entered you web hosting account you should see this screen.

Click on the Control Panel icon on the top menu bar to be taken to the following screen.

One more step and your there click on the log into cpanel button to continue.

“CONGRATULATIONS YOU MADE IT” you should be looking at this screen which is called your Cpanel

Cpanel is the back end of your web hosting account. Don’t worry you only have to go through that process the first time you want to access your Cpanel.

Any time you want to to access Cpanel from here on in is simply a matter of typing in the domain name you used to set up your hosting account and add /cpanel after the .com ie; http://Your Domain Name.com/cpanel, you will then be taken directly to your Cpanel log in page,

Then all you do to log in is just enter your Username and Password to gain access to the cpanel area.
