By default your Google Gmail account sends your emails using the “@Gmail.com” email address, But did you know you can change the default settings in Gmail so every time you send out an email from your Gmail account, it appears to the recipient of your email you have sent your message from a different email address?
Let’s assume that I have already completed the steps for sending mail from Gmail using your domain name, and now I want to send the bulk of my emails from my @globalevangelists.com email address.
Normally, I’d have to manually choose this email address every time I want to send an email by clicking on the “Drop Down” box in the “From” sender information area.
But because I want to use this email address for the majority of my emails, having to manually choose this specific email account every time, seems very impracticle.
So to make it easy for me to automatically send out the bulk of my emails from my @globalevangelists.com email address, I simply need to make it my default email address in Gmail.
The rest of this post is all about changing the default settings in Gmail, so you can simply forget about what email address you have to use everytime you send out an email.
To change the default email setting in Gmail, log into your Gmail account and click on the “Settings” link in the top left hand corner of your Gmail admin area.
After clicking on the “Settings” link, look for the link that says “Accounts and Import” Click on it to continue.
In the next screen you will see a list of the email address you have set up to send out mail from your Gmail acount.
You will notice that your Gmail email address has a “Default” label, in bold black text on the right hand side of your screen, This is what we want to change.
Next to the email account you want to use as your new default email address, you will see three options, “Make Default“,”Edit Info” and “Delete”
To make your new email address your default email account in Gmail, simply click on the “Make Default” link.
After clicking on the “Make Default” link in the “Accounts and Import” section, you should see the “Default” label is now associated with your new preferred email address.
And thats all there is too it.
But just to make sure let’s test it, click on the “Compose Mail” option to write an email.
When the new screen opens up ready for you to compose your email, you will notice that the “From” sender email address shows up as your new “Preferred” from email address, Which means, every time you send out an email, your Gmail account automatically knows to send it from your new preferred email account.
