In my introduction article I briefly mentioned how I have been studying the Internet for a couple of years now, studying information about building blogs with Wordpress, what plugins to use, how to easily modify themes, setting up email accounts, basic .html and a whole heap of other strategies on getting traffic and using social media for building credibility, relationships and so on…
When I first caught onto the concept of the internet,
I instantly fell in love with the idea of building a business online, but I had a problem, I really lacked direction and focus with who I wanted to reach and to be of service too.
Who could I serve that I would be prepared to dedicate my life to?
I wrestled with this for way too long, and I made a terrible mistake, I started down the road of chasing the money and trying to build a business online that I had no experience in or even worse, no interest in.
Looking back now, I can see the times where I had this deep desire to focus my energy on sharing the gospel and reaching out to other Christians who were spending time on the web.
But… unfortunately I let circumstances and people prevent me from pursuing that desire or if you like persuing my vision.
I don’t blame anyone for my lack of action, If any thing I blame myself for not believing in my dream, or listening to that quiet voice inside, but I can say that in the last two and a bit years of trying to find something that I believed in and was so passionate about that I would be prepared to spend every spare minute of time online writing about, I was very, very confused.
In a conversation I was having with a good friend of mine (Kurt Johansen) earlier this year (2009) I was telling him about where I was at, and how confused I had become with the whole Internet marketing scene, something he said to me sparked an idea or created some clarity in my mind as to what I could do with my time spent online.
I would love to say…
It was at that point I had the vision of helping Churches and Christians to get online was the idea, but it wasn’t.
The idea I had…
Was to set up a business or a website that would help small business owners and entrepreneurs build and mange their own websites and in particular Blogs.
I pursued the idea…
and I again started to realize that my whole heart and soul was not in the small business realm.
And although I am a small business owner and would consider myself as an entrepreneur, I still felt within me that there is just so much more for my life than to just help people make money through the web. now please don’t misunderstand me, I believe money is important and we all need it, I personally don’t have any hang ups about making money, but I realized I didnt have a passion or a desire to teach this stuff,
I realized this when I was sitting in a marketing seminar…
Which was a small gathering of budding entrepreneurs, and the main speaker was talking about how passionate he was for creating massive wealth and teaching other people how they too can become the masters of their own financial destiny.
It was a very convincing speech…
and you could feel this mans passion for wealth, and it would of been very easy to get caught up in his excitement, but something he said triggered another moment of clarity, I knew their was so much more to life for me being a Christian, than just making money, and my thoughts started to shift towards heavenly riches where moth and rust can not destroy.(Matthew 6.19–21)
For the next few months I still continued with my small business website training idea, but my initial lack of purpose and passion for just being another Small Business coach started to gain some momentum.
Until recently…
I was still very much confused and unsure of where I was going to position myself on this incredible media known as the internet. It was only about a month ago (May 2009) I started reading a small pocket sized book by Charles Capps called, Gods Creative Power,
I started speaking out…
I started to speak out aloud the scriptures related to purpose, clarity and vision, and my thinking started to shift from helping Small Business owners to helping Churches and Christians set up their own websites, so they can start going out and reaching the people where the people are actually at, which is Online.
A few things started falling into place for me…
I won’t go into details now but, people were saying things to me totally out of the blue, that were lining up with the idea, I was being inspired by the vision to help other Christians who are proactively preaching the gospel, the idea really started to gain some momentum, and every time I would go to church or get around the word I continuously had an excitement to pursue this idea.
I have to admit…
I did have some anxiety over the whole project but I know that god has not filled me with a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind(2 Timothy 1:7)
So I began putting some action into the idea…
I started thinking of how I should name the site, I went through the usual online strategies of keyword research and traffic stats and all of the stuff I will eventually teach, but the final decision was made after going to the word and having the inspiration come from the Bible.
I never really considered myself as an Evangelist…
When I think of Evangelists I think of Guys like Benny Hinn, Andrew Wommack, Curry Blake, ect.. but I guess we’re all evangelists to some degree if wer’e actively talking about the lord and in all reality, once you start talking about the lord on the web you begin to reach a global population, therefore I thought globalevangelists.com was a very appropriate title for the site.
I suppose I could of easily set up a site with my own opinions…
and experience about being a Christian but I thought if I could share my knowledge of building websites and in particular blogs, then I leverage the potential of one website reaching into the community, through many, many websites and as a result I help even more people become exposed to the good news online.
As this site grows and progresses…
My aim is to help you piece together the puzzle of building and maintaining your own Church or Christian website, and to honest if I can build a website and get traffic to it, then any one can, I will also continue to share a bit more about me, and my testimony and how I came to know the lord Jesus Christ, But for now I just want to let you know that I can help you with your website and what you will come to realize is, that it’s not that hard.
If I can do it, so can you, I assure you, I do not have a single spec of technical education in my background. but that hasn’t stopped me from learning how to effectively use and communicate through the World Wide Web.
So stick around and enjoy

Many affiliates start out thinking about fast money or easy ways to make the jump to working at home full time. i can’t even count how many times I’ve seen the advice to ‘do what you love’ and pick a niche you really enjoy- and it’s so true. Any job will feel like work if you can’t get into the subject.
Yeah I totally agree, I can’t stress how important it is to have a clear vision of what you want to be and do, mixed with a burning desire or passion for your topic of interest if your to succeed long term in your blogging efforts.
Hi Jeremy,
I really like what you have done with your site using the hybird news theme. I wondered how you managed to get the social elements in the top of the sidebar – any help you can offer would be great.
Many thanks,
David
Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback.
Basically all I did was upload the images through the image uploader when writing a post or page and linked them to my social accounts then copied the html and pasted the code into a text widget.
Hope this helps.
Ahh cunning! Thanks for the help – was having a bit of a nightmare trying to work this out.
Thanks again,
David
No Problem, Glad I could help.
